Dollywood & Gaylord Entertainment will be building a “114-acre family entertainment zone” across Briley Parkway. “The park will provide a mix of high energy water activities for the summer season and designated snow activities for winter play.”
Please don’t call this an amusement park or the return of Opryland.

A new amusement park in Nashville? Awesome!

They better bring back the grizzly river rampage.

Here’s the map of the new, not Opryland, theme park. BTW, you should all begin to imagine the horrifying possibilities of the Christmas Villages and Christmas in July shops that you KNOW are going to be a major part of this snow park thing. The sheer number of retirees in nylon jump suits and their capacity to overwhelm our infrastructure is very real my friends. Very. Real.
Ever been to Pigeon Forge and/or Gatlinburg? If you have been there…and you enjoyed it…I’m afraid you should just rip the bandaid off, move to Branson, and get on with the dying.

We did enjoy Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. We didn’t do Dollywood though. We hit the Wonderworks there as well as the Comedy Barn (which was a hell of a lot funnier than we thought it would be). But I think there’s something about seeing these things through your kids’ eyes.
My favorite, though, was driving down into Cade’s Cove. That area is simply beautiful.
